While the main focus of the event was to present ones work in front of other researchers and give each other constructive feedback, the breakout sessions gave the participants the opportunity to exchange views about life as a scientist. This year’s multifaceted session topics included student initiatives at the cluster, career planning after the PhD, and the role of science in today’s political landscape. Prof. Paul’s overview talk about the research highlights of 70 years of CERN fuelled further discussions and sparked curiosity among students of all research fields.
The unchallenged highlight of the event was the excursion to the top of Brentenjoch (1204 m). Hard to decide who enjoyed themselves more: those who soaked up the -albeit rainy- scenery on a two-hour hike or those who chose to ride the quirky one-person cable car up and down the mountain.
See you next year!
